  1. How do you feel about the contractor?

Emotions play a big part in a selection as important as this one. This company will be invading your home and will affect the largest asset you have! You need to feel that the company is reputable and will do the job efficiently and expeditiously, and that you, as the client, feel comfortable with them and them with you

Price
The basis of price is important and should be evaluated very carefully!  Do not hire a contractor with the lowest estimate. Examine and breakdown each estimate. Are materials the same quality? Is the standard of the workmanship the same? Did they miss something on the estimate? Weigh all the factors--price, references, and professionalism in making a decision that will affect the biggest asset you have.
